TV is not rudely interupted by commercials
Commercials are rudely interrupted by TV shows...
If you live in America, you have become numb to all the commercials for drug ads. I now can't even pick up a magazine without 50% of it being filled with drug ads. Last time I checked, I can't just walk into the local drug store and buy any of the drugs they are advertising without a prescription from a conventional doctor. With that said, why is the pharmaceutical industry targeting us with ads of things we can not obtain without a doctor visit who then must prescribe them to us if they feel we could benefit from them? Those who know me, know I'm not into drugs. I'm into medicine. The difference is, medicine doesn't leave you with a hangover or feeling worse than you started. Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food. -- Hippocrates, father of medicine, 431 B.C.
I heard something the other day that resonated with me. A man went on a quest for religion and came across many religions that ask you to leave all or most of your "possessions". The theory behind that is that with no "possessions", you have no need to upgrade those possessions to possession 2.0. You have no need to keep up with the Jones' or feel like you are missing something if you were suddenly left without those things. Pills are the same way. If you are constantly told by commercials (The new parents to many children in America) that you need such pills for any ailment, feeling, ache, pain, anxiety, condition or dis-ease, you are left feeling empty if you were suddenly told by a real health care professional to stop taking those drugs. It's like asking the 400 pound client, "who would you be if you were not 400 pounds"? They usually look bewildered. So, ask yourself, "who would you be if you started taking medicine and stopped taking those drugs"?
